Freedom from-Finacial pains

Do you feel like you’re in a place of financial pain or toil today? If so, this article is just for you. I want to encourage you that God wants to take financial pain and toil out of your life! Reading encouraging words about your finances could be the most important thing you do today.
When you consistently honor the Lord with all He gave you, things will begin to change in your life. I want to share with you some Old Testament scriptures that I’ve used to encourage myself when I’ve found myself in places of “pain” or “toil.” The Bible never promises that the Christian will avoid all pain and toil. However, it does give us some conditional promises that will radically change our lives when we read them, understand them, believe them in our hearts, and start behaving as if they were already true.
Deuteronomy 11:10-15 says this:
“The land you are entering to take over is not like the land of Egypt, from which you have come, where you planted your seed and irrigated it by foot as in a vegetable garden. But the land you are crossing the Jordan to take possession of is a land of mountains and valleys that drinks rain from heaven. It is a land the LORD your God cares for; the eyes of the LORD your God are continually on it from the beginning of the year to its end. So if you faithfully obey the commands I am giving you today — to love the LORD your God and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul- then I will send rain on your land in its season, both autumn and spring rains, so that you may gather in your grain, new wine and oil. I will provide grass in the fields for your cattle, and you will eat and be satisfied.”
This passage shows a sharp contrast between two different places – Egypt and Canaan. In the Old Testament, Egypt represented the world’s economic system – it was the place where God’s people became slaves and where their future leader Moses was trained before he led them into Canaan (their promised place of blessing). When we read it today, it shows us the difference between the world economy (the place you’re coming out of) and God’s place of blessing that He’s bringing you into. In the land of Egypt there was scarcely any rain. The Nile river came and flooded once in a while, in a cycle – just like our economy does today.
- If you’re living in a place like Egypt, your income is controlled by the ups and downs of the world. But the place God is taking you to “drinks water from the rain of heaven!”
Deuteronomy 11:10 says that in Egypt “you sowed your seed and irrigated it by foot as a vegetable garden.” What does that mean? In the Greek language, this expression means “any thing under your power & authority that is acquired by your labor”
How does this relate to us today? In the world economy, your blessing is entirely based on your own efforts. But when you serve God and obey His commands, He will bring the rains over your finances, over your job, and over your family. That’s good news. It means that God will help you become successful!
What are some of the most basic commands God expects us to obey? Using our possessions, the income from our jobs, businesses, or investments to honor Him. Proverbs 3:9-10 says “Honor the LORD with your possessions, And with the firstfruits of all your increase; So your barns will be filled with plenty, And your vats will overflow with new wine.” When you do this consistently, the Bible promises that you won’t stay for long in a place of “pain” or “toil” in your life.
When we do the best we can to follow God’s commands, His blessing will produce results. Proverbs 10:22 says “The blessing of the Lord makes one rich, and He adds no sorrow with it.” What is this word “sorrow” talking about? The word for “sorrow” in the original Greek language literally means “pain” or “toil.”
In the world economy, there is “financial pain” and “toil” on the job. But when you are faithful to honor God with all He’s given you charge over, His blessings will take you away from the place of financial pain and toil (“Egypt”) and bring you into a new place (“Canaan”). It’s a place where God will send the rains of increase, in their season, to cover all the works of your hands!
God cares about the place of blessing He has prepared for you! Deuteronomy 11:12 says that it is “a land for which the Lord your God cares; the eyes of the Lord your God are always on it, from the beginning of the year to the very end of the year.” Do you want your entire year blessed?
- It doesn’t matter if our economy is in recession or if energy prices are rising.
- It doesn’t matter if there’s a worldwide food shortage.
- God’s taking away your financial pain and toil!
PRAYER FOR FINANCIAL FREEDOM
As you continue to honor God with all He’s given you charge over, try using the following prayer in your times of devotion:
  • I Thank you Lord for taking financial pain and toil away from me.
  • As I give of my possessions, wealth, time, and influence to serve You and others, I release my faith that you will send the rains that will cause my [ life / marriage / job / education / business / ministry / project / investments ] to produce fruit.
  • I believe that I will eat and be satisfied. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
